Whatever you call it: Universal Truth, Universal Law, The Law of Attraction, it states that what you think about most and focus your attention and energy upon most, is what you attract into your life, good or bad—the universe does not make distinctions. The laws of the universe have been written about, talked about, and agreed upon for centuries by all the great sages and ancient philosophers. The thing I find ironic is that the secret was never meant to be a secret. It was meant to be practiced in all aspects of your life, to make living easier, more fun and more fulfilling.
In health and healing practices…at least in Eastern or Alternative healing, practitioners teach their patients about the inborn life force or innate healing energy that every being is born with. In Chinese Acupuncture, health and healing can be inhibited by too great or too limited flow of Qi (pronounced chee). Qi is the life force energy that animates, heals, and protects the body and it can be disrupted and set off balance by poor diet, lack of exercise, or even negative thoughts. Acupuncture, Reiki, Ayurvedic Medicine and Yoga, as well as hundreds of other healing arts, work with the body’s energy system to release stagnant energy to heal the mind, body and spirit.
In the Chiropractic community, we refer to this inborn power or energy as Innate Intelligence. It represents the same life energy described by Qi in Chinese Medicine. Innate Intelligence governs all the functions of the body, and protects and heals the body from “Above-Down-Inside-Out”. If we use present day science to describe innate intelligence, we would be referring to how the electrical transmissions of the brain and nervous system coordinate the immune system and all other bodily functions that keep us alive and healing from illness and injury. In other words, the body is a self-healing organism controlled by the nervous system, which transmits electrical messages from the brain, down through the spinal cord and spinal nerves to automate and heal the body from the inside out.
Interference in this energy flow can be brought on by physical trauma and injury, or physiological changes caused by poor diet, lack of exercise, poor posture, or negative or toxic thoughts and then manifest as spinal subluxations (misaligned vertebrae). Subluxations block the flow of nerve communication or energy to and from the brain. Sub, means less, and lux means light, so the term subluxation literally means ‘less light’ gets through to the body impeding healing and health. Subluxations can be painful and result in muscle spasm and joint pain and inflammation, which is troublesome enough, but if the internal organs are also receiving less than optimal nerve energy flow, their functions may also be hindered.
The focus of Chiropractic and more Eastern forms of healing are focused on health, not disease. Their focus is on harmony and on living a better life, not just a longer life. Dr. Oz once made a bold statement, by saying that eastern medicine or what Americans call ‘alternative health care’ is way ahead of western medicine. I believe he’s right and if you can grasp the concepts and tap into Innate Intelligence and of The Law of Attraction you too could finally learn the true secret to health, vitality, and a happy life… because it doesn’t come in a pill, with a new surgical technique or from constantly scanning and checking your body for disease.
